Do you know who will win this year's highly sort after literary prize, "CBCA Book
of the Year"?
Here is your opportunity to tell everyone which short listed title should receive
this prestigious award.
Your task is to critique the short listed title you believe is the best. It is not
as simple as just that though. You need to express your opinions not just through
words, but through a complete multimedia experience.
Using animation software such as Kahootz or something similar, invite your children
to create a newscast in a virtual world. The newscast should include the reasons
why your chosen title should win. It does not need to be a simple writing task;
but challenge your children to express their views by using animation, images, sounds
and keywords to portray their ideas.
You are only limited by your own imagination.
To complete this task successfully and be in the running to win a Flip recorder
you need to include the following two simple items in the newscast.
Firstly you need to include the CBCA logo which is included here for download.
The second item to include is the cover image of the title, which can be downloaded
from the Junior Judge's web site.
The rest is up to you.
You can enter as many different newscasts as you can create. So challenge your students
to buddy up and get creative!
Once completed you can zip the file and e-mail it or you can send a copy of it on
disc to:
CBCA
PO Box 5548
Hughes ACT 2605
Entries will then be placed on our You Tube channel so everyone can enjoy the creative
efforts of students all across Australia!
This year's Book Week theme, "One World, Many Stories" highlights the ways in which
cultural difference can be expressed and celebrated through literature.
We invite you to challenge your students: how is multiculturalism embraced and celebrated
within your local or school community?
It’s time to think creatively to capture images and sounds that demonstrate how
multiculturalism is woven into the fabric of their everyday life. Couple these ideas
with poetic words to facilitate our understanding of how cultural diversity is present
within your lives.
Present the work as a slideshow or digital storyboard, - the only limits are your
students’ own creativity.
To be eligible to win a Flip recorder presentations must include the CBCA logo,
which is included here for download.

This year the Book Week theme, "One World, Many Stories" invites you to explore how diversity and multiculturalism are woven into the fabric
of our everyday life.
We celebrate and enjoy multiculturalism in so many simple ways; the food we eat; the clothes we wear; the acceptance and understanding
of other people's belief systems, just to name a few!
This year we are challenging you to create a Book Week display that demonstrates just this.
Capture this theme through the use of any creative medium such as a diorama, poster, or other art forms.
Encourage students to experiment with different media to create dramatic effect. Then create a collage of images which could be presented
as a slide show or digital story.
Include the CBCA logo somewhere in your Book Week display and be sure to send in your entry!
Remember we are giving away Flip recorders so get creative and enjoy Book Week 2011!
