Using the Voting System
Voting Timeline
On the home page, there will be a live countdown timer to let you know how long before
voting officially begins, or how much time is left before voting finishes.
All the key dates can be seen on the
Junior Judges' calendar
Voting pre-requisites: Registration & Class Groups
You can register for a teacher account (Class) through the registration
system at any time. You are encouraged to register early on, so you can
familiarise yourself with the website, and make sure you can log on with your
account well even before voting begins.
Once registered, you will need to create one or more
Class Groups. Without any class groups,
you will not be able to cast any votes. If you teach more than one class, you will need
to create one class group for each class you teach, as appropriate. Currently there
is no limit to the number of class groups that a teacher may have. For instance,
a librarian may register on behalf of the whole school, and create one
class group
for each class in the school.
Alternatively, individual teachers within a school can each register their own account,
and create their own class groups as appropriate.
Although not recommended (due to the amount of time and effort required), you can
create one
class group for each student so they can cast their own individual
votes. Simply use the student's name as the
class group name, and set the
number of students in that group to 1.
Competitions
This year we are running two competitions with prizes provided by Faber-Castell. They are 'Name the Critter' and 'Design your own Shortlist Book Cover'
The competitions are available to all registered users. For more detailed information you should read the
Competition Rules
The Book List
The list of Shortlisted books will be made available soon after the official announcement by the CBCA. Anyone may view the book list, but you must be logged on
in order to vote.
Voting for Books
New for this year is the Voting Wizard.
It lets you logically step through the process of voting for your Favourite (Winning) and two Honour books in each category. When you're finished
making your choices, you can cast your votes at the final step in the Voting Wizard.
If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can run the Voting Wizard and cast your vote again. This will replace
any previously recorded votes. You can change your votes up until voting closes.
Thereafter, no further votes are accepted.
Viewing your Votes
Under the "Manage my Account" section, you will find a link to a page to display
the votes that you have cast. Each
Class Group that has voted will be displayed
here, along with the Winner and the two Honourable books for each category.
